Moving Forward, Cherishing the Past

Melton District and Melbourne

Some years ago, I heard someone say, ‘WE’ comes before ‘I’ in WEDDING. How true this is. The ceremony is just the beginning of your wedding, it is the first day of the rest of your life together and should be one of the most memorable days, one on which you can look back with joy and wonderful memories.

Today’s lifestyles are not always those of religious involvement. Many prefer a Civil Ceremony, performed by a Civil Marriage Celebrant, through which they can publicly declare their love and commitment (legal and emotional), to each other. Many others prefer a traditional Church wedding, which is a beautiful solemn occasion, particularly where there has been family involvement in the Church. A Civil Ceremony can also have some religious connotations. It is a personal choice, and neither has less meaning or legality than the other.

Civil Ceremonies provide the opportunity for couples from different cultures and walks of life, to marry and have their ceremony to include elements of those cultures, if they wish. Alternatively, a traditional ceremony is also appropriate. We can do it together. It’s your day, your way.

Basically, as long as the legal wording requirements are fulfilled throughout the ceremony, it is yours to create and style until it is exactly as you want it to be.

It is my role as your celebrant to guide you through the ceremony, to offer you suggestions and give you advice. We will communicate as often as required by phone and email and have several meetings during the time leading up to the wedding day.

A NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) will need to be completed no later than 1 month prior to the wedding. To complete this form I am required to sight your birth certificate, and if this is your second marriage, a copy of your decree absolute or a death certificate in the case of a widow. If you were born overseas and are unable to obtain a birth certificate, your passport will be sufficient.

This paperwork is an essential part of the registration process and is a legal requirement.

Please call me just to enquire or to arrange a time to meet.
